Supporting growth through planning

The Village of Clemmons has many resident-driven resources to help support and guide the inevitable growth that comes our way. Our Comprehensive Plan and Transportation Plan were created by our residents to help guide Council decision making to align with the communities wants and needs. These resources serve as a touch stone for Council to make sure we are representing the community interests and not the developers.

We have two full-time planners on staff who review any proposed development and meet with the developers to ensure compliance and discuss additional opportunities to be a good community partner. We're fortunate that our Village Manager is a former engineer who worked for home builders and the Department of Transportation so understands construction from all angles, as well as transportation needs and requirements. He was, at one point, our Stormwater Engineer, and wears that hat currently, so is uniquely positioned to manage our many stormwater needs and work to minimize the impact of any future development.

We also have a Planning Board, which meets each month to review projects with staff and make recommendations to Council. These residents put a lot of time and effort into this volunteer role and are a vital piece of the decision-making matrix for Council.
